IS THERE ANY WAY TO LOWER RPM'S ON MY BIKE

hi, im looking to get a dirt bike. ive found a honda cr125. it is cheap and in good conditon. it is a 1987. Im not sure if i should get it because i dont want to have to rebuild the top end every year or more. I know that there is a powerband in them and is it possible to take it out to lower the rmp's to that like a trail bike. thanks. if you know of any other way to lower the rpm's please let me know. thanks

Lol. that was pretty funny. A powerband is just where the engine makes its max power. The power band on a 2-stroke is in the high-rpm range. If you wanted to make the powerband in a lower rpm, try getting a FMF Fatty exhaust, they work on low-end power, also, a 11:1 Piston will raise tourqe. No mater what, your going to have to re-build it at the same time. Good luck.

Or you could change the gearing to make it slower but have a better bottom end alot cheaper too

Play with the gearing, find a low-mid pipe, flywheel weights, there all sorts of stuff you can do to make it more of a bottom end machine.

Sounds like you would enjoy a 4 stroke motor better. They have much more low end torque and dont require high rpms, for trail riding.

so by making it a bottom end machine it will not have to be rebuilt as much right?? Is there any other cheap ways to do this.

If you take care of your bike, it will take care of you... And you won't have to rebuild the motor every year. You shouldn't have to ever rebuild the top end EVERY year!

Btw, the best way to get more bottom end out of your bike is to gear it lower in the front or gear it higher in the back OR add an FMF Fatty exhaust (great for bottom end power).

As far as the rest of your post, I think the other guys covered it hahaha...
