raptor won't start

my brother's raptor is not starting. he said it ran for about 20 seconds and then just stopped. we tried starting it and it wouldn't even attempt to fire. we pulled the spark plug and it had gas on it. we checked to see if he was getting spark and he was. whenever we try to start it, all it does is crank until the battery gets weak. we even tried pulling it and jump starting it. any ideas? and yes, the gas is on and the tank is full. thanks.

Well that sucks dont it.

What did it do when you tried to push it? Did it attempt to fire? Or did it just lock up.

May sound stupid, but check your killswitch on the handlebars lol.

That's a weird problem. Mine did that once. IDK what it was, but I charged the battery fully and it fired right up.

Maybee one of you vent hoses is clogged? Try spraying Starter fluid on the air filter, Check your oil level? Fresh gas? Clean Carbs? Clogged Fuel Lines? Plug wire dissconected/frayed?? good luck!

I wish it was the kill switch.

it didn't do anything but lock up when we were pulling it. it has new gas in it and everything seems to be fine. the floats are fine and the air filter isn't that bad. could it be the valves? he hasn't checked them since the stealership "tuned" the quad. I told him to check those and then go from there. thanks for the help.

Valves are very possible. One time me and my buddy we're adjusting mine and he messed up and over tightened the exhaust valves....they almost had no clearence at all. That caused mine not to fire. So we adjusted them back on track and it fired right up.
So it is definatly something I would check out.

It is probably the intake valves are too tight. They wear on a raptor and tighten up then they don't close all the way. If you haven't adjusted the valves in a while, this is proabably it.

You can tell because it sounds funny when turning over.

Another way to tell is to remove the air filter and listen for air sounds backing thru the carbs.

This happened to me.
