honda trx450 vs raptor 660
i have much trouble seeing a trx beating a raptor uphill. this is usually where the raptor shines, torque/bottom end. a stock raptor has higher top speed than the yfz (2-3mph), but the yfz gets the holeshot. the yfz beats the trx all the way around, but they are both mx quads. set up for suspension and low stance/hieght. the raptor is totally different, and in the woods i like the hieght, and how comfortable it is. ive smoked everyone ive ridden trails with, including the trx, havent raced the yzf though. had a buddy who is a die-hard banshee rider, let him cruise my raptor round the yard to get a feel for it. tried to rev it a bit like a two stroke and he dug two ruts through his lawn. partially due to my bald *** tires from two years of crusing pavement though!! the bottom end is great on the raptor.

bluerider and vinne help me out here as I am not understanding what point you guys are trying to make.
If I am getting you right he should just not even worry at all cause the 450 is nothing more than some slow POS, and it will be like riding with a 300lb friend on a kesea90.
Or maybe you guys were talking it up a little much and just got lost in the heat of the moment
I know this is the yamaha forum but c'mon back to reality already!!

Are you guys in denial???
A stock raptor against a stock trx, there is no comparison between the 2. The TRX absolutely kills a raptor in pure acceleration. I have yet to ever ride a raptor that can absolutely blow away a 400ex, let alone a R. These machines are stock also that i ahve ridden. The 450r and yammi 450 are in a class by themselves, these are supercross engines packed into an atv. Modded raptors i have no idea but it will take a lot of money to get it up to speed with the R or YFZ.

I will agree that stock for stock the R beats the raptor in acceleration. I have friends who own a stock raptor and a TRX450R, both bought brand new. The 450R beats the raptor in acceleration, but not top speed. Also like to add the father who rides the raptor is double the weight of the son, but none the less the R beats it.
We installed jet kits, removed the airbox lids and baffles/spark arrestors on both quads. I did some calibration on the carbs of the raptor. Now, the tables are turned. The raptor kills the 450R, in acceleration and top speed, even with a rider double the weight.
I also have friends with 400EX's that they got from new and the raptor walks all over it. LTZ400's are quicker than a 400EX, and even the LTZ's are getting a kick up the zort from the raptors. Stock or not, a 400 will not stick with it. In a 300 ft drag the stock raptor is about 4 to 5 quad length in front. I sure call that a blow away. I must also add that the 2005 model LTZ is much quicker than the 2004 model. It is able to trade wins with a stock raptor, so watch out for those. Suzuki added some trick bits to the 2005 models. Both the stock raptor and 2005 LTX kills 400EX’s and even a brand new 2005 Predator we had.
When you ride trails, it's a different story. Best rider wins, not fastest quad.
