Honestly I dont think they do compare at all (and neither does the yfz).
Your trying to compare machines that are totally different and designed for different things.
Sure you can make any atv to be good at whatever you like, but may as well start with something that was made with your type of use in mind.
Hope that helps

Honestly, i own a raptor and am very pleased with it. I love the set up of it compared to the yfz and trx 450 bikes. The raptor sits higher and is alot more comfortable to ride for me. This weekend i am meeting a buddy that got a trx 450 this year and might see some seat time on it so i can make an honest comparison thyen, but as for now the only difference that i can say is great is the comfortability. The raptor is for bigger guys i guess is what im trying to say.
blah...blah blah.....im done now, hope this helps a little bit.

i appreciate the input. i am going to pull my raptor on for the first time this year over memorial day weekend and i am going to be riding with a banshee and my other friend who just picked up the trx 450 a couple monthes ago. he says that he smoked a raptor all the way around but i am wondering if skill of riding has something to do with that.

At least for us who understand that these this v/s that model threads can be fun, but lets be honsest too as its a lot easier to bolt on some mods than put in the time to train and build our abilities etc.
To reinforce this idea I always think back to a local harescramble in PA where Chris Borich raced a mostly stock z400 in the A class. There are not too many mods missing from most A class machines and many can compare to pro level rides so theres a important lesson from his winning the class (by a good margin too) against such superior machines.
Dont get me wrong there is still an advantage to us weekend warriors or reg riders from having a better performing or handling machine, and I know damn well how much having a properly handling quad helps me keep with the more experienced riders, but I also know like I try to point out above that this is nothing compared to the advantage of our very own skills.
I know this is hard for some to believe or understand by as important as power is, it is still second to handling. Think of it as being that what good is power unless your machine can make use of it, and its sort of like how many top fuel drag races are lost on the starting line when one of them just lights up the tires from too much power than it is set up for.

Dont worry you will be fine, unless your out skilled and having a real race (one with turns) for big $$$, and lets not forget its supposed to be fun right
