Titan 589s vs Mud Bugs for Kodiak and rim size
#1
I am going to buy some mud tires for my Kodiak and was set on the 25" Titan 589s until i saw the weights of them compared to the the 26" Mud bugs.
25" Titans:
25x8-12------> 20 lbs (front)
25x10-12-----> 28 lbs (rear)
26" Mud bugs
26x10-12---->25 lbs (front)
26x12-12---->28 lbs (rear)
I have 2 questions about this, first off will the stock Kodiak engine be able to turn these tires or will they cause alot of engine strain ? and second, If I get the mud bugs, will my stock 8-12 rims work with the mentioned mud bugs which appear to be sized at 10-12 front and 12-12 rear? The tire size vs rim size is rather important since it will more than likely shape my decision. Information would be greatly appreciated.

I have 26 9X12 front and 26 12X12 rear Bear claws and there is no problems with power. But I really don't know how they compare to the tires your looking at. I can tell you, don't go too wide on the front because they might rub. I have a WARN 2000lbs winch and when turning fully to the left my right rubs the winch and the back of the left front tire rubs the left A-arm. 1" spacers might help but I haven't tried yet. Either way it's no big deal. the pay offs are worth it.

I just put a set of the 27" 589's on my griz. My wheels are the same size as yours are, and I put the 27x11x12 on the rear, and 27x9x12 on the front. They fit nicely, and look bad! Have lots of room to spare, no rubbing anywhere. I can say one thing about these tires, they are ALOT sturdier then the stock tires were.
