Default Wolverine spool locker?

**I'm not talking about a 2x4 disconnect, highlifter or warn, so please don't even mention it!**

I don't care about one wheel moving faster than the other through turns since I'll be in 2wd mode most of the time. I want to have true 4x4 through the mud and water holes, though.

It seems like the only option to lock the front differential for the wolvie is the detroit locker from Highlifter, but It's VERY pricey!!! Is there a place where I can buy a spool locker for 2005 Wolverine?

Unless you will spend all your time in mud or going straight ahead, a spool is a VERY BAD idea. Yes, traction will be great, but it will steer like k-rap, and tire you out on a trail ride, it will be that hard to turn. The detroit is as close to a spool as you can get, while still letting one side ratchet in a turn to keep steering effort lower. Save your money for that, and forget the spool. If you must have it, Hi Lifter makes a locking plate that replaces the clutches in the front, and locks the axles together, and it can be removed and put back to stock, which I guarantee you will be doing after your first ride. And unless they made the new Wolverines 2-4 wheel drive selectable, you will be full time 4x4, so I'm not sure what you mean by being in 2 wd most of the time??? the only way to have that is with the Warn 424 select or Unlocker from Hi lifter.

I've got a Warn 424 on order...

So my question now is if I have the wheeler in 2wd mode, would the spool locker still screw up the steering? I'm guessing it would?

yes because even in two wheel the spool will still keep the axle`s locked togather and spinning at the same speed. i`ve never played with a quads diff , but i`m sure it can`t be much different. than a cars, but what a mini spool does is replace the side gears and spyder gears in the diff, the pin that normally goes through the spyder gears now goes through the mini spool driving the spool instead of the spyder gears, and then the axles spline into spool instead of the side gears so that both are driven at the same speed

Thanks for the help everyone! Sounds like I need to save up for Highlifter's detroit locker to do it right
