I noticed the shifting was alittle clunky, noise wise, and was told by another 700R owner that the noise goes away after a certain number of riding hours, in other words, his made a sound new, now the sound is gone. As far as the EFI noise, don't have a clue what you were hearing, mine makes no such noise, but when I shift now, I do hear alittle clunking noise, but I only have 4 hours on mine.
As for the power it should have, I bought the 700R for the future potential of the quad and more than anything the improvements to it's stance. My next long ride will be at Florence, mid October, riding for 4 days, I'll give a report on any noises at that point.
RoosItUp and I will be riding together at Florence, there will be atleast 3 700r's in our group, we'll ride, look and listen for any potential problems or noises and report back what we have discovered.

Mines the opposite. My stock 700R pulls a little harder in the low and mid range than my fully piped and Pro-Flowed intaked 660R did........BUT....my 700 can't match my 660 for top end. The way I had my 660 jetted it would revv to the moon and very quickly (like it was a DOHC). If I could get the 700 to revv like my 660 did and still keep the rest of the powerband this thing would be unstopable..............

A Honest opinion from someone to have owned both.
The 700 has issues above 6500 rpm.

Pftttt is all i can say Ct the poeple u were racing were prob revinging it. All i can say is dont rev the 700 short shift all the way. As for a stock 660 coming close stock for stock please. Also that noise is only for the first few hours had mine gone in about 5hrs. That show the 700s yoy were racing were not even close to full break it. It takes the efi it self to finish fine tuneing 20 hrs. As for air beging wrong No hes not and fasterthanyou22 what are u talking about more mid. The 660 has a little more bottom end torque and for all other torque the 700 dominates.

so if the 700r is supposed to be (short shifter) how is the average rider, or a brand new rider supposed to know that! Most people are just going to put their thumb it and let it rev to the moon and then shift. Air's 700r drops off at 6000 rpm. While as opposed to a 660 it revs a lot higher, look at my dyno, it just keeps pulling as does every 660. I find it hard impossible your saying your beating 686's on your lrd700r. Stallions craycraft 686 was handing it to me about 5-10 lengths every time. And in the very same race i was 5-10 lengths ahead of the 700r. Do the math.

i will not go as far as saying it will beat a 686 rappy cause it wont. It does hand it to piped jetted k&n rappys easy though. As for not noing to short shift is just that rider beging an idiot once u hear the eginge get high revs its like all the power is gone. Just try in any gear rev it high let go n then just nail it u got NOTHING. Then try shifting and nailing it if feels like u got nos under your a$$

Add a bad sand hill with over 700 ft vertical climb in a quarter mile at altitude (4900 ft) where I live and a lot of fast machines fall flat on their face. We are comparing apples to oranges. It is one thing to run 300 ft flats, but to shoot the hill is another. Give the aftermarket some time to catch up and the 700r will be unreal. I still want to see a dyno run of a 660 with a slip-on and a air filter.
I have seen a 660 beat almost all comers then have a DS trash it. it is the builder as much as the size of the engine.
Raptor carbs do not like altitude.

around here we have one of the few big hills its about 900ft from top to bottom. CINDERS.. If you know anything about carbs, you know how to jet for these conditions. However your correct i beleive the FI will shine in these conditions. But how many people race the face of 1000ft hills. NOT to many. Now take the dunes, decent hills. And a carb will run just as good at FI will when properly tuned. The same as flat drags.
