Problem with warn winch install on 06 kodiak 450
Well, I went out tonight and tried installing the winch I got with my new Kodiak. This is a Warn 2.5ci winch with the mounting kit.
The problem is this - When I get the mounting plate and winch aligned in the stock bumper / grab bar, the solenoid side gets in a bind with the bumper / grab bar support bar. I cant even begin to thread the bolts on the control side, as the base is sticking up about 1/2 an inch, due to the angle at which the solenoid side is in a bind.
If I remove the mounting plate from between the winch and bumper/ grab bar, it fits fine.
What do I do to mount this thing? Any ideas? Would it hurt just mounting it without the mounting plate? There wouldnt be anything to attach the fairlead to then.
I also looked at taking the "L" shaped bracket the fairlead is attached to and just bolting it to the underside of the bumper, running the bolts through the bracket and into the winch, but it is just a hair too wide. The fairlead would also then be about 3 inches from the winch.
Any ideas or folks with a similar experience would be a huge help. We are 88 miles from the dealer, so just running it over is out of the question.
Thanks,

Bump.
If I just cranked toe bolts down, will it hurt anything? Would pics help? Cmon guys, I cant be the first one to have run into this.
Are the front ends on the 06 kodiaks different?
I did figure this out - The winch kit the dealer gave me is part number ABA UXX69-10-25 The one that the Yamaha Web Site calls for is ABA 1D969-00-01. Is the winch the same?
Thanks!
