I have about 8 hours on my Raptor, this is my first 4-stroke quad. I am hearing different stories regarding the scheduled oil change period for 4-stroke quads. I hear 4 hours, 6 hours, I hear change it after every trip (trips usually consist of 4-10 hours of ride time).

Also, I am going to do the oil change myself, has anyone encountered anything strange or out of the ordinary when doing this simple procedure?

Thanks in Advance

I just did mine today. I would say I had between 8-10 hours on the machine, but it was spread out over 6 weeks (I go for short after-work rides for an hour or so, now that I am getting old). I noticed a weird coloring to the oil - lots of little spots which sort-of looked like water, but I figure it was just metal. There was more in the tank than the crankcase and it wasn't even throughought the whole draining cycle. I only ran it for about 2 minutes before changing the oil. It is kind of a pain to change and you WILL get oil all over your frame unless you put a funnel/hose combo underneath the oil tank drain. Mine took 2 quarts of oil. I will run it for a hard weekend or so and get it into the dealer for valve adjustment by Thanksgiving.

It runs great and has taken 2 nose-first 6' drops with a big rider (210 naked).

I changed mine about 9 hrs. I'd say between 8-10 hours. Then about every 9 or 10 tanks of gas.Cruz3 - you might wanna check your oil again my raptor took a little bit more oil than that.
