my brother in law just got his new rapter and was surprized to find out how fast it moves in reverse. Why is reverse geared so high? It says in the manual it is geared between first and second gear ratios. Isn't reverse for when you get in a jam and just need to turn around? How many people need to go 30 mph in reverse?

I heard it was due to the amount of space inside the casing. Hey, it's better than having no reverse at all!

I think the operative word here is: THROTTLE CONTROL. (I guess that's two words)

I too was surprised at how fast the raptor is in reverse, it was a little unnerving on tight mountain trails with steep drop- offs. I actually got off and turned it around the old fashion way.

Is it any better when the 12 tooth sprocket is applied? I too am a little wary of using my Reverse on a tight trail, but I think the different sprocket might make it tolerable. Don't get me wrong, I love having reverse, and MAN will this thing throw mud in reverse!

this will get you to a set of super muddy Raptor pics.!

yeah i was suprised how much "performance" reverse had kinda weird at first!!..but tell me this is it jus me or does it feel like if u were in mud and u had to back up that it would jus dig itself deeper?!

I was wondering the same thing, if the twelve tooth front counter sprocket will make the reverse more "granny geared". I was screwing around and actually rode my raptor in reverse going pretty fast until my friend scolded me for being reckless.

Feather that clutch. Get turned around. And go!

I finally got to ride his raptor this weekend. What a great machine. The high geared reverse wasn't terrible, just that if there were a very tight, or muddy situation, it would be better for lower gearing. You can really lug this thing pretty low with all its power, so it is pretty forgiving when it comes to feathering the clutch. I love being able to hike the front wheels at will.

I put an 11 countershaft sprocket on mine and I love it for the woods and it helped reverse but its still fast in reverse but I have know trouble in tight situations
