I think the 700 is the best for what it is amde for....an open class trail quad, with tons of low end power and torque!!

I when I drove a 700R, it was at 384 ft. It was way too slow. All the power is in the low end where it does the least good. You don't get an excillerating power band like you get on a YFZ450 or 660R or Geo Metro. One word to sum up a 700R is..... BORING.......
I think Yamaha tuned it low because they are using the same connectiong rod as the 660. Just a hunch.
Don't get me wrong, the new 700 is a very nice bike. It's just more suited for chicks.
This is just my opinion of course.

yes I did run stock tires, I also though the dyno numbers were kind of low.. but I think it just might be there dyno because he just had taken off a 2006 yfz 450 and it only had 30rwhp which I thought was sort of low...do you guys think the dyno is just low or do you think its the stock tires? As far as hill climbs and drags now it pulls a lot harder in the mid rpms..I can wait for an aftermarket cam to open it up..

If the 700 is a womens bike, that must make your 660 a little girls bike?Am I correct?Sounds to me like your wife won't let you get the new 700 so your jealous of it![/quote]
Hey a Polson guy! Corvallis here.
Anything that makes 40 at the tires is making power, all bench racing aside. Sheesh.

Oh, & don't forget humidity......
Maybe the throttle body(44mm ??) on the new Rappy is the top end limiting factor...... similar to the Edelbrock(42mm ??)- makes great low/mid but doesn't flow enough for good top end. I wonder how the aftermarket will respond.........?

Like boom said....its all about pressure.
We ride from 2,000 ft to 7,000 ft all the time.......
You can start out in the parking lot with 4psi in your tires.....once you get to 7,000 ft you will have between 7-8 psi (depending on the tire plys and size)
The reason this happens is because there is less outside air pressure pushing against the tire.
