Just leave it in. With it out it sounds like @ss, and it may make it run lean which would be the cause of it backfiring.

Recon99 is right when u gut a pipe on any quad its goin to run lean, this doesn't mean put the end cap back in or leave it in. All u have to do when taking the end cap out is take the top off your carb lower the needle 1-2 positions down and your bike couldn't run any better

Just changing the needle won't solve the problem, you need to change the main jet too. It's not worth the work to make your bike sound like a broken lawnmower, and gain barely any power.

recon99 has it right....it's more than moving the clip....you would be fiurther ahead to buy a slipon...it would sound a he11 alot better and be easier to gain power

Well if you go on to predatorowners.com theres a thread there by nicholas cycles says the main thing to do while taking the end cap out is to move the clip that was the biggest thing to do so that u dont burn a valve im just posting what experts post

yes..you could prolly move the clip like he said but I jetted my kodiak 450 and did the airbox mod and moved the clip and removed the cap and it sounded like chit and didn't gain any horsepower(mabye lost some) but he can try his...I bet it'll sound chitty though

Well of course you need to do more then just move the needle u took the air box off your air/fuel mixture would be way lean but for a stock bike taking the end cap out all u need to do is lover the clip
