Washing them with a hose is fine. Just be careful of high pressure and plug your exhaust

what's wrong with high pressure??

i use a 2700(?) psi pressure washer.. usually with a 40degree spray tip and i've never had a problem...

Hah, I thought the same thing too until the water caught a loose end of one of my decals and sent it sailing across the lawn.

I spray my bike off, spray some simple green on the rear end, front end, and engine..Pretty much everything but the plastics and tires. Then let that sit for 10-15 minutes then hand wash the plastics. Sometimes I'll take my front plastics off, this takes me 5 minutes TOPS. Rinse off and repeat 3 or 4 times until I think it is good enough. Which I am very picky about it so this process takes a little over an hour and a half. But thats counting the time it takes to dry off and shine up!

A mate of mine was using high pressure and 2 decals came off also..... It also says in your owners manual not to use high pressure on your chain and wheel bearings etc as water can penertrate and cause damage..... I've use the garden hose since i first got my bike 6 months ago and has been fine.....

I take mine to the car wash, none of the chemicals hurt anthing i soak it with engine tire cleaner and it doesn't hurt it.

I stand my bike on end, pull off the skid plates, side covers and seat. Then put the 1500psi with turbo nozzle to it. It cleans it really well but there's not a single decal left on it. even the little bear head on the front is gone. After it dries, I spray the entire bike down with tire foam. That makes it look shiney and new and also helps to keep the mud from sticking so bad on the next ride.
