im getting a new atv and need to know which is better, the raptor 700 or the yfz 450???

 

well, the raptor is obviously more powerful. but it really depends on where your going to be riding. id say the 700 is unecessary unless youve got alot of area to ride in, but some people are all about the numbers. Id say buy the 450, and use the extra cash on some mods... nerfs, exhaust, k&n or unifilter, and/or whatever your heart desires! good luck making your decision

 

It all depends on the kind of riding you plan on doing.I just got a raptor 700 about 2 months ago and looked for a very long time on what to get the 450 or the 700.i went with the 700 because i didnt feel crampted on the bike plus it has reverse. im about 6ft 4in 260lbs and the 450 just felt to small. plus I found out that the maintanance on the 450 is alot more than on the 700.The only thing I can say is go and ride them both the 700 has plenty of power as well as the 450.the 700 is just a bit more user friendly .I dont think you will be unhappy with whatever you get. just think about the riding you are going to do and get one and ride. Depends on what you mean by "better". The 450 is faster, handles better, and is a better jumper.

Now the 700 is close in all these categories. Close enough that it won't matter to most casual riders.

The 450 is a bit higher maintenence but that really amounts to just more frequent oil changes and valve adjustments. Not that much more.

The 450 doesn't have reverse but honestly if you are a full sized person you don't need reverse since you can just lift up the rear end. Reverse is for girls and utility quads. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

They're both awesome quads and both are fast. Just differently. The 700 is great for an all around, do anything quad. The 450 is too but its a little more for the non stop aggressive rider. I don't think the 450 is faster than a 700 but it feels like it is because the power delivery is more aggressive than the 700s. On the trails, the 700 rides better but the 450 handles better, particularly if your riding aggressively.

 

Ozark38 hit it right on the head. The YFZ is a track oriented beast that is very trail worthy, while the Raptor is a trail oriented yet still track worthy quad. Be honest with yourself, if you spend a lot of time on a track or doing big jumps, you are probably better off with a 450. If you don't see much air time, or have the occasion to ride slow like on family outings, the 700 may be better suited.
