2004 Yamaha Bruin won't shift?
This last saturday I was out riding and was going thru a small creek. The water was about halfwas up my engine. I got high centered on a root that was under the water and had to be pulled out. ATV continued running fine the entire time. After I got the bike unhooked and all I began my trip home. Noticed then that the bike wasn't shifting. I put the shifter in F and it acts normal and all. Once I start to accelerate the bike seems to not shift out of what I guess would be first gear. It just revs out. Any clues as to what might be the reasoning behind these shifting issues.

From what i am hearing i think that water is in your belt drive causing the belt to slip off track. if so, u will need to remove the belt case or if it has a drain plug at the bottom.

I've pulled the entire housing off the belt drive. Everything in there was completely dry. Thanks again.

Yeah it's still doing the exact same thing. It goes but just wants to rev out, doesn't seem to shift out of first or whatever you would call it.

Yeah i'm gonna run it down to my buddies dads shop this Saturday. He's works on atv's and lawnmowers. We've trusted him with all our stuff before. If he doesn't know i'm gonna take that dreaded trip to the yamaha shop.

Well i got it fixed. The rollers in in the so called "transmission" were packed with dirt. Runs like a champ now. Ran so well I went and traded it in on a new 05 Arctic Cat 660. Thanks for the help.
