if anyone has any doubts about the visco lock not being better than any other system, go to the can am web site and see for yourself why its better than the others.

Or you can watch this real life video Here and see why the Outlander visco lock system can be just plain dangerous. Raw power isn't everything. It needs to be mixed with a reliable 4WD system, locking differentials, and independent front and rear brakes. That is, if you want to always come out of the woods riding instead of walking.

The visco-lok was a good concept but they just didn't follow through with it. It's missing an over ride switch. It works fine as a limited slip/sorta locker. Yes, it's a locker but it won't stay in that condition. It works best when it is used in situations that you would normally use a limited slip differential. I find in those situations it works great. If you have to use it in situations where you have to be off camber, go from off idle and negotiate difficult terrain when you need the front diff to stay locked it fails.

Again, if Can-Am would just have provided a manual over ride for the front differential we would have the best of both worlds with the Outty. We would be able to use the excellent progressive nature of the visco-lok in slippery situations and on other trails when a limited slip is more appropriate and when the terrain gets more extreme be able to lock the front so there isn't the undesirable locking and unlocking of the front differential in difficult terrain which necessitates wheel spinning and and other potentially unsafe operations in already very precarious situations.

The rest of the machine is great. In fact I think the rear suspension is THE BEST sest up on any ATV on the market.

I seen enough videos to see its not better than the others, in my opinion. I will stick to my manual 4x4, and manual locker ANY day over that system
