Recently I test drove a new Kodiak, on his asphalt parking lot. I noticed a significant whine from the transmission. Was this because I was on a new bike on asphalt, or is this a common occurence? Will it diminish after it's broke in? This was the biggest complaint I had about the Kodiak.

I have had my Kodiak for about 2 months now and I also hear the whine. I was wondering the same thing and from what I have read about in the forums is that it could be from the belt. I hope someone with better knowledge can give us better information.

what your hearing is normal i`ve had mine for about a year.its the gearing in the transmisson ,the dealer says it`s ok

If what you guys are talking about is the whistling type of sound at medium to full throttle it is an air noise from the cooling system for the belt housing. Mine comes and goes.
I am a Industrial Maintenance\Machinist and if you can hear Gearing it is a problem. Maybe on a tractor or a truck in Granny gear but not on the Kodiak. What you are hearing is the sound of the air rushing in. It is a good sign that it is working properly. I too wish it was quieter. |
