Default Wolverine 450 4x4 vs Wolverine 350 4x4

Anybody lined them up?

I'm not looking for the "my brothers friends cousin has one and he said he said his is much faster than the other", or "I have ridden both and this one feels much faster", or the typical "blah blah blah I'm going to insert my opinion with no fact basis..."

Anybody really lined the two different model wolverines up? No real reason, I'm just curious to see how they perform against each other.

I know A lot of the guys with the older model 350 wolverines hate the new ones, and would never buy one...but everybody who actually owns the 06+ 450 seems to love it...including myself.

I know they make a whole ton of aftermarket parts for the 350's, and there are a few things out for the 450's now. But once you mod them...it really doesn't count; money can make anything fast.

I have not yet had the chance to line my wolverine 450 up against the 350, but mine isn't stock anymore so if I do get to race one, it wont mean much.

is your bruin a 5 speed or automatic? If it is a 5 speed race that against your wolverine 450 to get a general idea since im 90% sure that the bruin 350 and the wolverine 350 is the same engine.

i ran one in some sand like dirt with my 450 and i had around 2 bikes on him
my 450 is stock and his was stock

yotatrailrunner, my bruin is an auto and its a dog...Im not sure if they have the same engine, but if they do....then the wolverine 350 wouldnt stand a chance against a wolvy 450.

slammed1500, thats kinda what I expected to hear, but you never know for sure.

I have a bruin 2 wheel drive and raced and 350 wolvy down a slag road and got the jump on him and held about 2 quad lengths ahead of him till we hit top speed I was shocked all thats done to my bruin is air filter and pipe.And Miwolvy sory to get off subject but have you ever found your self needing more power from you 450 wolv I know most people would never say there atv was weak in anyway but i know when i first got the bruin i found that it has good power BUT!!! if you ever lodged it up good in some ruts or in some really gooey mud it wouldnt hardly ever get the wheels spinning again it lacks that power from idle to around 5 mph!!!

I'm not sure,I never raced an auto wolverine..But what I can tell you is..With my manual shifting I can get to top speed fastser than an auto(that rule pretty much stands in all) but I don't think my top end is better then a 450,in the long run I think I would be caught and beat..Even in 4x2 mode with 25in tires K&N filter and my HMF pipe with a torque stuffer..My 03 Wolverine just is not very fast at top end..But I also have alot of extra weight with full protection plates and a warn winch..But I will Ride this machine till it dies,I love it and would never trade it in..IMO it is the perfect mix between sport and being able to ride in the deep ruts,mud and any conditions really..

The wolvy is a nice machine but not for someone at 215lbs. I don't agree about a lack of torque though. We ride in some real deep slop and the wolvy can hold it's own. Granted, once the maxxis tires are full of the thick mud they turn to slicks just like everyone else's tires. My son has done well over a thousand miles on his and he got it on memorial day weekend. He races all the bikes we ride with which are mostly bigger utes and he does great out of the hole. It's when the top end rolls around he would like some more power.

Well, there is no replacement for displacement. I have an 01 350 wolv with 26 vampires and if you put it in deep gooey mud it will go better in 2wd ( i have the unlocker) because it just cant turn the tires. Other than that one thing though, I love my wolv. I had a kodiak too but I sold it. I didnt like the high revving clutches and didnt want to drop the cash to change them. I agree that my wolv would be more fun with more power but I like its simplicity. That usually means durability. Time I got rid of my kodiak, the electric fan was out and the auto trans was going. In case ya'll hadnt guessed, I run the h*ll into a four wheeler. I buy them to keep forever and I think the old design, while antiquated, is about as cost efficient and durable as they get. Plus with all the mods, if you want to, you can make it walk the dog and kick the cat. And that is the end of my basically irrelevant post.

when i ran the 350 i had him out of the hole also

i would like some more out of my 450 ill get the pipe, filer, jet kit and a clutch kit one day and see how it helps it out of the hole

Default Wolverine 450 4x4 vs Wolverine 350 4x4

I want to get some mudders for my son's 450 but am afraid of how it will lose power spinning the larger tires. I know a clutch kit will help that but what will happen to the top end? I was thinking a set of mudlites, probably 25"ers would be the best set up but really would like to see how the bike handles it before I plunk down the cash on rubber.
