Yamaha Grizzly Piece O'crap?

Just wondering if anyone has had problems with their 07 Grizzly? Service dept at BOW CYCLE doesn't seem to want to go to bat for their customers.

The axle popped out of the CV joint. I'm a girl and not very mechanically inclined and I can only go with what the service guy is telling me. The boot was ripped, so dirt and mud got into the CV joint and popped the axle out. Although a buddy we were riding with took it out because I had no idea what had happened, just that it wouldn't steer very well.
They said that Yamaha would not cover???? It is $1000 bucks to fix the thing that has only 300km on it. What would you do?

Some Dealers will do everything to get a repair covered under warrenty and some will do everything to get you to pay for it. I've been down this road with my kodiak.
You need to call Yamahas Customer service at 1-800-962-7962 and explain it to them. They gave me an authorzation number and I took it back to the dealer and said here you go thanks for all your help!
Call them and know what you want to tell them before you call, also Have you VIN # in front of you. Thats the first thing they"ll ask you. I would state the boot protector is inferior and not doing it's job I hope this helps, let us know the out come. Good luck!

that, and you can change the name of this thread... It's not the quad's fault you tore the boot.

Freak stuff like that happens from time to time. Especially if you drive thru the rough stuff a lot... (I've had a random stick pop up and bend my tie-rod before) I tend to get off and check the undercarriage from time to time when riding thru or over a lot of downed trees/sticks. (especially if I hear or feel something)

good luck with getting them to cover it under waranty... let us know...

Yes indeed! You almost have to get a feel for the dealership before buying. I found smaller dealers closer to home are a little more accomodating than the bigger ones in the city. Lowest price is not everthing.

But you really have to get a feel for the people you'll be dealing with.

Personally I think a good dealership would try to help you out a little if they could.

I appreciate your comment about it not being the quad's fault, however a tie rod costs about $50 vs $1000 and in my opinion, it's ususally 99% upto the dealer's discretion. After massive bitching at the dealer and Yamaha, I was on my way to pick it up and they called saying now Yamaha will cover the parts. It took 3 weeks of crabbing, but they finally did what they should have done in the first place.
