Default Raptor 350 Mods???(Pipe,Rev Box,Jetting)?

If you click on the camera icon under an author's icon on the left that will take you to their pics and their profile. I have my mods listed there. By the way, a rev box is almost a waste of money for the 350. You could spend that $100 on something that will give you way more power than the rev box. If you do get one, I've heard Dynacon is the one to get.

I agree with raptor450. Dont waste your time. I have a modded 350 and its not worth it. Go sell your 350 and buy a Z400 before you make the same mistakes we did!

Ill think about it. But i have a question about the cut lid box...does that mean that u literally cut the air filter lid for more air to go in. What does it do and does it make a big differance in how ur quad performs

It would probably be better to drill some 1" holes or so than to actually cut it, but yes you are opening the airbox lid up to alllow more air to enter the carb. To get full potential of this mod you may have to rejet the carb. It does not make a big difference in power, maybe not even noticeable, but it will help. It's true potential will come alive with the addition of a high flow filter and slip-on pipe.

Default Raptor 350 Mods???(Pipe,Rev Box,Jetting)?

well my personal preferance with my ATVs is before I go performance I make sure to get the saftey gear I need (no im not talking helmet special MX boots or anything. So im going from my experience with my wolverine and my buddys warrior (which are both the same motor as your raptor 350 accept for a few tweaks by yamaha....

1) protection. I HIGHLY reccomend unless just riding fire roads and tracks you spend the loot and get a swingarm skidplate of some kind to protect your sprockets and chains, a full belly skidplate is a really good idea too dont need a high rock cracking your engine cases. Those are the big things other than that its preference and specific conditions

2) slip on exaust ( the 350 header is actually quite high flowing you wont notice a power difference with an aftermarket header till after doing more mods, in that case buy the slipon now and the header later if you have extra money to burn, it isnt needed now. At the same time as your slip on (I love the FMF megamax but there are so many out there FMF, HMF, GTYR etc etc, theres plenty of threads on the different exausts im not going to go into much detail. At the same time as the exaust get yourself a new air filter (I swear by the K&N filter with an outerwears cover. Now it being a raptor 350 i dont see you mudbogging so cutting a few properly placed 1 inch holes in the lid of the airbox or in some other way venting for higher air flow should be done too. Now do your pipe, filter, and box mods all at once so you can re-jet, or if you cant jet yourself pay somebody to rejet, only once instead of after each thing.

3) I dont know the raptor tires but the warrior 350 tires were crap and replacing them was a definate must with some razrz or holeshot type tires

4) in the top end. Two mods that go well together is a higher lift camshaft (white brothers makes a good one) along with a higher compression wiseco piston will go nicely with the other mods already done. the piston will give you more power throughout and the right camshaft will let you rev higher in your gears and you will find you have to shift less. thats what I found on my wolverine at least...

5) up to 4 is a pretty good start from here it really depends on if your satisfied with what you have and what types of coniditions/environments your riding. this your first ATV? if so get done everything on this list and get back to me when its done.... you can see from my list im up to 4) on my wolverine (of course i also have a lot of other non power related aftermarket goodies) but my next step in a year or two will be the Four Stroke Tech 446 big bore kit. It will give me some extra grunt since im running 4x4 with 25" tires

Closing notes)

I dont know much about rev boxes but Ive never really heard good reviews about them. I dont think for most riders and modders its really a good or safe thing to do. just leave your timing alone. if you want to rev higher do it with a camshaft not a rev box. On cars theres plenty of plug and peform parts but cars have computers with fuel maps and are generally now EFI. quads arent that high tech and I dont see how anything good will come from a small electronic part like that. seems like asking to fry your piston to the wall of your cyl.

PPS) after any mod involving intake, exaust, or cobustion: RE-JET at least run a plug run to see if jetting is off, not saying an ajustment is always needed but usually it is and better to do it right then melt your motor assuming it will be OK. Thats why its best to save up and do things in stages, especially if you dont tare your own motors down. Doing the piston and camshaft seperately not yourself means you pay somebody the hours to tare down the motor twice when they could have done both with one motor tare-down. same if you cant jet do the pipe, filter same time so you only have to jet or have jetted once

Cool They may surprise you

I did a lot of shopping before I bought my raptor 350. Over a course of a week I got to ride all types. From stock to Full GYTR kits. I ended up buying an 05 raptor 350 with the lonestar adjustable axle(lifetime warrenty). GYTR air filter with pre filter, GYTR exhaust, and GYTR jet kit. The sprocket was geared one lower in the front. and let me tell you it would still smoke the stock. My best friend has always had fast bikes, quads, cars, etc. and he was very surprised so my choice was clear.
There was plenty of torque with the stock sprocket and too much with the sprocket one lower. So I changed the front sprocket to a 14T and I love it. Just remember depending on where and what type of rider you are you may one day need to go ***** to the wall to avoid the pokey. So get your GYTR package and your sprocket and good luck. you'll love it. (and enjoy that sweet GYTR muffler sound)

Make sure to get an aftermarket rear skid. A chassis skid is a plus as well. I bought a PRM , it was 50bucks new off ebay and honestly I was very worried. When it came my friend with full baja was drooling. Its very thick with good ground clearance and under the chain is riveted plastic strips the length of the skid in case it ever hits. My full chassis skid I bought first and it was AC racing. It only pissed me off putting it on. Wish I bought full PRM. It's the most bang for your buck. Especially when you are just going to beat the crap out of any skid.
