ultimate trail machine?

I would mainly ride trails and some sand. Ive been looking at the 2008 Raptor, kfx450r, or the trx450r... any input would be appreciated. thanks

I guess it depends what you consider trails. You would not get very far on a Sport bike with the trail we have.

I own a '07 Raptor, and I am very happy with it. It is a heavier machine and I am about 220lbs, so it rides nicer than a smaller quad for me. It all depends on what you are trying to get out of it. I only have experience with the 700 and other makes of racing quads. Sand, wooded trails, and some mud are the types of trails I frequent. (I leave the DEEP mud for the my buddies 4x4s) What kind of trails do you plan to ride? The 700 may be a lot to try and throw around in the air, if that is your goal.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SPORT TAIL BIKE THE RAPTOR 700R IS HARD TO BEAT. I LOVE MINE FOR THAT EXACT REASON!

Raptors are great bikes..But no 4x4 and no ground clearance,I would have to say the Wolverine is the best trail bike..By Yamaha anyway..You can put larger tires on it,you can mod it out pretty nice for the money the Raptor costs..I like the older ones myself.the 99-05 are semi automatic, wile the 450's are full automatic, but I hear they still have alot of spunk..

Yea... I had a 2004 Wolverine 350 but sold it about 2 years later. Ever since ive been wanting something more sportier (manual tranny, lighter, faster etc.) Where I ride there is no need for 4x4. Im leaning towards the 2008 700r. I would like one of the 450's (yfz, trx, kfx) but they seem to be more at home at the supercross track than in the woods.

Yes you are correct..Go with the 700,those little crotch rockets are only good for dragging and jumping

Depends on trails... Some here like the wolverine, but that's my wife's bike. Sure it's got 4x4, but the shocks are terrible (rear end bounced up and bucks you pretty bad), dives in corners if going to fast, acceleration is mediocre (compared to a sport quad) and top speed is only ~50 (which is OK if you don't ride fast on gravel roads).

But then my Raptor sucks wind in snow and deep mud

So it really depends on what type of trails you are talking about and your riding style.
