What are the F'ing chances ?
If you caught any of my other posts you would know I went through a long and painfull process of finding out why my starting relay was buzzing. Alot of other guys had similar problems but mine ended up being a because I had the ground to the relay and the ground to the battery swapped.
Well I fixed that and went for a nice long ride today. Stopped many time's to refill (bud light) and then at the end of the day luckly when I got home it won't start again. This time no chatter at the relay, it actually clicks in when you hit the start button but the starter does nothing. I'm guessing it is the starter because their is nothing else past the starting relay. Due to the fact a new stater is $200. and a new set of brushes is $60. how can I definatlly prove it's the starter ? |
What are the F'ing chances ?
if the battery is set up anything like my raptor then i would check the battery leads... they probably raddled loose after a whole day of riding its happened a few times to me they come loose and you hear a clicking sound... tighten them up and u should be good

What are the F'ing chances ?
I wish, but loose connections is something I've been over and over with my other prob. I just disconnected the starter from the bike, jumped the starter case to the neg and the pos lead to the battery and nothing happened so I think it's the starter. I also got lucky and found a used but working starter on ebay and I just won it for $20 bucks so I'll try that, thanks for the reply.

What are the F'ing chances ?
I had the same problem with my Polaris Xplorer 400....I had just bought a new starter for it which was over 300.00 and it started clicking about a month after i had put it on it and i took the stater off and the magnets inside had busted so i just used the old starter housing and put the new starter parts in it.....but im pretty sure its the stater but i would take the starter apart and look and the brushes and magnets.....
