CTATV - A built 446 is a torque monster. With a manual clutch in a drag race you can launch in 3rd gear with 23" tires and do 3rd gear wheelies on demand. With the upgraded big bear tranny gears and 25" tires, you can hit 68mph on gps. Never done it but I know you can because I hit about 64mph on gps with 23's and it revs out fast.
It is alot of fun but I wanted something a little different after a while so I bought a Raptor, dad took over the Wolverine. I was jumping the Wolverine so high broke the neutral light and the battery lead when I landed. It jumped phenomenal for a 4x4 but it was too much on a MX track with my buddies.
Good luck on the 446.
If you are planning to ask me a question, come over to www.raptorforum.com because I have no idea when i will be back on here.</end quote></div>
thanks man

I haven't been around here in a while and this thread made me laugh because my buddy that I always go riding with (and who use to own a 2004 Wolverine) just up and bought a new wolverine 450 and we get into this debate all the time, in a joking manner...IMO and yes it is biased, but I just love my 2004 wolverine. Plus ever since I did the mods it seems to have unleashed the beast in it that was always there. With that said, I'm also of the opinion that having the "best bike" is only half of the equation, cause if ya can't ride, all of the technology ain't going to help ya. Plus, I view this as a personal matter, kind of like Chevy verses Ford, which has broken up many friendships...LOL

i guess for me i would base my opinion on base models. you can mod anything out and make it badasss. just think when all the mods come out for the new wolvies. and alot of them have just look at catuesa's i bet that thing is a beast. giving a little bit of both worlds sport/ute. but again even though i like my new wolvies sporty look something about the old one i like maybe it's ugly duckling syndrom. where you get an old wolvie and mod it out and everyone one is like WTF and it turns out to be a beast. kinda like putting a hemi in a gremlin or a pinto

you can unleash the engine all you want..With the crap suspension all the old and new Wolverines have...They(both) will not live up to their potential..The cheapest you can upgrade to a "good" suspension for any Wolverine is 2 grand..I know...I've looked...Hell thats 1/3 the price of the Wolverine new right there..Thats why I opted to go with the 700 Raptor and turn it into the most bad-*** trail-quad out there..With the proper mods it can do most of what a Wolverine can..I'm even putting a 1500lb Warn on the front of it..along with all the armor I can buy and the Bearclaws,on the back I can go through muck I dident think I had a chance at..But the crappy part in this option,I'm up just over 9 grand with the bike and all its mods
But the two places,I lose is the 4 wheel drive option, and the small crap,un up-gradable gas tank..With the proper set-up,you can take a Rappy anywhere a Wolverine can go..Deep ruts hassle me on the rear swing,But my wolverine had those same issues..Except it is much more easy to push the Rappy through the rut then that 600+ lb Wolverine..
I wish there was a "true" sport/ute out there now..But their isn't

The big bear 350 had a different cam, carb, air intake, and the head differed a little. It was also heavier and geared lower.</end quote></div>
first off your right on too things, the carb is diffrent, the heads on a old woly, old bigbear, and warrior are all interchangable, the cam is a little diffrent,
but the big bear is geared lower but has taller tires, stock for stock so they compensate each other, and as far as biegn hiever, the mudflaps may add a couple pounds, you can go to the older bigbears that had high n low range and there is a added 50 lbs there, but 97-99(i think can't remember for sure) they elimated that option, so the drive trian is the same

my background ive owned 5 200x's 1 350X 2 atc 250R's 1 88trx 250r paul turner nationals motor (oh how i miss u) a 2002 raptor and a 2004 wolverine.. honda's aside im partial to the old wolvy i love mine its sporty and i can still toss it arround even though its heavy.. the 450 i rode felt much more like i was along for the ride.. not rideing it (car-ish??) it was fun and the select is excelent ( im hunting one down for my wolvy now) but all in all . ive always shifted and like the fact i can shift .. sometimes the shifter sucks though.. (tree branch jamming it up and out of gear) but other than that.. im 100% sold on the 04 and older wolvies.. sorry guys with the newer ones but there butt ugly too.. (pregnant polywog look is wierd)

I havent had the time to ride a new Wolverine but based on the reviews I have read and riding wheelers with CVT I would take my 95 Wolverine any day. Also as far as the size of the tires goes smaller is more torque while bigger is more top speed. The new wolverines are ugly in my opinion. I like a 4x4 look.
