valve adjustment

valve adjustment
its pretty easy. tanks your gas tank off first. you'll see the 2 covers for the valves. takes an allen head socket to get the bolts out. take them off. bring the piston up to top dead center on the compression stoke (valve will be fully closed) for the intake side. loosen the lock nut on top of the rocker arm (10 mm socket, if I remember right). put your feeler gauge between the rocker end and the tip of the valve. you can but the tool to turn the rocker tip but I just use a good set of needle nose pliers. tighten or loosen it until the feeler gauge gets snug in between the 2. tighten down the lock nut and recheck the clearence again in case it turned when you tightened up the lock nut. same thing applies to the exhaust valve except bring it up to top dead center on the exhaust stroke. its a little harder to get to but fairly easy also. hope this helps. btw, the air/fuel screw is usually set around 2 to 2 1/2 turns out. any more than 3 turns out before it runs right, you'll need to put in a bigger jet.
