Warrior stroker noise?

Hi Guys,

I just built my warrior with all new engine components including the dp clutch kit, hot rods stroker kit ad cam. My question is that I just cranked it up yesterday and it makes a good amount of noise. sounds almost like piston slap. I rode it for about 20 min tonight checked the oil and everything looks really good. That noise just concerns me. Is a forged aluminum piston in the motors supposed to be loud? The ONLY thing I know I left out was this little pin and spring thing that slides into the end of the crank on the clutch side. I saw no purpose for it so I left it out.

lol i have no idea but the engineers that get paid hella $$$ didn't design the lil "pin and spring" thing just so u can take it out its gotta hold somethin in or somethin idk never owned a warrior >.< its gotta have some purpose imo id get it back in there asap

I wouldnt mind knowing what the pin actually does. It cant hold anything on cause the crank is keyed. I just dont see how that would make the engine noisy.

if im not mistaken that little pin is for oiling...lol you should have put it in just because its supposed to but im pretty sure it has something to do with lubrication...

i guess i would take the pin down to a Yamaha shop and have them tell you what it is of find a crank assembly break down online that could tell you

just go to bike bandit then go to oem parts and find the cracnkshaft and piston schematic section and tell me what numbers of the corresponing parts u left out? 4 and 5 im guessing?

I looked up the part on a parts diagram and it shows to be a clevis pin and a compression spring with a dowel pin that holds it in place. no one knows what its for????

Yes parts 4, and 5 are the ones that I left out. I have a service manual that doesnt even list those parts?? what are they and why do i need them?

they serve some kind of purpose for oiling but im not quite sure...best bet is to contact a yama dealer i know my crank has one in it too but i havent installed my crank yet since rebuild, if i were you id ask them just to be sure.

there is a hole in the clutch side cover so the oil pump can pump oil through that pin (you didn't put in) and crank to the connecting rod bearing for lubrication,
