Gabe?

Are you still trying to validate that theory. Be real. Call Sheldon at LSR and he will tell you himself like he told me. They are making the +1 for MX and the +4 for trail and dunes.

Why are you here and not the Honda forum?

2001raptorrules

No offense but chill.....

I made a post asking for info on the 250r and raptor... all you seem to be concerned about is that a honda guy is in the yamaha forum... not that he may be able to contribute some info...

He may be right he may be wrong.... I don't recall one time that Gabe said he knew for a fact.. he asked that maybe we could post some measurements to see if that may be true..... hey nothing anymore would surprise me....

Thank you everyone for your responses

The '86-'87 250R's swingarm is approx 19.5" from the center of the pivot bolt to the center of the axle.

For informational and comparative purposes, the 400EX is approx 18.25" using the same measurement, which, I believe, is exactly the same as the '88-'89 250R's.

Gary660R states in a post that his Raptor's swingarm measures approx 17.0" using the method above.

In case anyone's interested, he also says that his Banshee swingarm measures approx 17.875"

So there you have it. Due to the Raptor's torque, personally my thoughts would be to make it at least as long as the older 250R's swingarms, as long as that wouldn't affect turning too much.

I talked to Mickey Dunlap from FTS he said they only went 1 inch longer with the swing arm because any longer would push the front end through turns!

Hmmm,

Probably be a much better idea to invest in a good set of ZPS style shocks instead of a swingarm. They'll improve turning AND help keep the front down.
