help diagnosing twolf problem

i have a 2wd 1994 timberwolf 250. When you hit the starter button, nothing happens. We tried to touch the solenoid posts together and all it does is click, doesnt start. We connected my truck to the bikes battery and tried the solenoid thing. Still no worky. Do you guys think it is the battery, starter, or solenoid? or something else?

any help appreciated

Try tapping the starter with a plastic screwdriver handle while you push the start button, could have stuck brushes, or be so worn that they dont make good contact anymore. Not hard to remove the starter, then you can use jumper cables to see if it will spin freely out of the quad, that will let you know if starter or wiring to starter is bad. There may be a heavy duty fuse near the battery box under the seat, that feeds the sol., a chance it may be blown.

I tested the cdi magneto coupler, results as follows:

Source coil resistance was 580ohm instead of what the manual called for which is 428-523 ohm. (think thats ok right?

This still doesn't explain why the neutral light will not light up when ignition is turned on and tranny in neutral...
