I HAVE HEARD THAT THE STOCK BANSHEE AIR BOX LEAKS AROUND THE FILTER AND ALLOWS DIRT TO GET INSIDE THE ENGINE.IF THIS IS TRUE DO YOU HAVE TO BUY A AFTERMARKET SETUP TO MAKE IT WORK RIGHT SO DIRT CANNOT GET IN.ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED..

I have a Warrior, which I believe has the same pitiful filter/airbox system, that is, the filter is secured by the lid and difficult to make certain of a seal. I dumped that system for a Pro Design filter kit and adaptor when I bought the bike 4 years ago. My Raptor still has a filter that relies on the lid to seal it so that is going bye-bye very soon also. Pro Design makes a billet adaptor for the Banshee to use with a K&Nfilter which is a positive seal against foreign material entry to your engine.
In adding this or other air flow improvement, be aware that you must rejet fo proper air/fuel mix.

Pretty simple.
I found dirt/water in my carbs after each ride until I changed to a K&N (only the K&N, not the proflow). I haven't had troubles since then.

Is that true? Well, Yes and No. If you don't grease the foam seal on the stock filter and make sure it is installed correctly it will allow dirt to get sucked in. If you do it correctly it will not let dirt in. I ran for 1-1/2 years with the stock filter mount and NEVER once got a speck of dirt inside. I have a pro-flow adapter now. If you got a few bucks (about $70) get the pro-flow adapter because one screw-up with the stock moiunt will cost you more than that.

Theres a Banshee airbox with a pro flow already installed on Ebay for $51, pretty darn good deal..
