Hi there I need some help I have a 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660 and when the quad is in reverse and I turn to the left( back of bike turning to the left side) I hear a loud popping sound. What could it be????:thanks:

cv joint in rear axle? Not familiar with this particular model...not even enough to know whether it is IRS or SRA...but sounds like a cv to me!

We just changed one and still having the same problem

Did you inspect the knuckle bearing assy or better known as axle bearings

Did you change one cv, one entire axle, or axles on both sides? If you did the entire axle with a replacement, it may be worth sticking the one that you took out back into the other side and see if that helps...I have found that you can get entire new axles on ebay for much cheaper than you can just fix one cv...they are easy to replace so even if you have to do it more often it still seems to be a cheaper route-my factory rear axles only lasted about 13 months (2200 miles)...

My 06 Kodiak 450 does this also one loud metallic pop as I start to move in reverse. I've researched it and found a lot of folks blame it on knuckle bearings and in my case sounds about right cause my axles are fine.
