New ATV Owner, tire help please
#11
a larger tire will be the same as taller gearing, giving more top-end speed but less low-end grunt
His ATV uses to go 50 plus mph easily but with the new tires it can,t get over 45mph and needs more down shifting on hills.
The up side is the ATV is much harder to get stuck and he has more ground clearance and does not hit every rock on the trail.
Of course 6ply mud tire are heavy , there are much lighter 24" 2ply tails tires out there so tire weight is a factor.
Here is a site I like to look at for tire specs, it gives you the tires weight, lug hight and ply number of any tire. ATV Mud Tires : Best ATV Tires : GBC Maxxis ITP

I checked and that is the original equipment tires it should of come out with. Question, does it sit level or is it downhill. Also is your intent to run a tiller with it and farm type things or do you want to just play with it? I see it has only 6.3" of ground clearance which is only half of a normal ATV. I've got a couple machines and they have 12" rims. Iinda depends on your wheelwell clearance.
