Wolverine 350 4x4 Utility Machine Abilities?

Howdy,

I have a question for anyone who's had some experience with the (95-05) Yamaha Wolverine 350. I currently have a line on a 2005 model. My question is: how much utility work can reliably handle? I'm not looking to use it as farm machine and 90% of the time it will just be trail ridden. However the other times it could see some harder work pulling loads firewood, hauling a deer out of the woods, plowing, and maybe pulling a light skidder once in a while. I'm pretty familiar with all the stats and reviews on it....but really couldn't find anything about its work abilities. Mainly, I'm a little concerned if the more sport oriented tubular frame and lack of low gear can hold up.

Anyone have any recommendations? I thought about looking for a full on ute like a big bear, but really just want the size or weight. But that's what's needed, that's what I'll get. Just want a machine that I can throw the ole lady on the back to cruise some easy trails yet still have the ability to do some work around the house.

If makes a difference I have a yfz for getting my speed jollies on. So I'm really not that concerned about going fast on this machine.

The old yamahas are great work quads

I wouldn't do skidding, personally, without a low range. 350 with low can do some pretty decent work. Without it, you're going to tax the engine/driveline. Just my own thoughts.

Not only does the 350 Wolverine have no low range but its also geared higher then a Big Bear even in high range.
That's why a 350 Wolverine can hit 55mph while a 350 Big Bear or my 350 Grizzly can barely get over 45 mph yet still scream like it needs a 6th gear and they all have the same motor.
My 350 also has no low range yet still has a tow rating of 1100lbs but I think Yamaha clutched it for that.

The Wolverine should still be decent you will feel it when you over tax it,s towing ability.
