2001 kodiak 400 mudding problems.

My 2001 kodiak 400 (yfm400an) has a little trouble hitting shallow holes at some speed. At about 15 mph hitting a 6inch holes it will cut out horribly and stop completely. Back in 2010 my sister grew a brain tumor and had to go out of state for surgery. While we were gone some low-life pill popper stole it from us. He was running from the police when they pit maneuvered him. It was rolled 9 times and smacked the from end off a tree. We got it back and rebuilt it. We finally finished it around June 20th this year. Runs like a dream except it gets to high rpms at low speed and this puddle splashing problem. Any solutions? Thanks. By the way I don't know if this means anything or not, it has a CVT on it.

Maybe a little clutch fixin. Somebody wasn't to sharp using the pit maneuver on an ATV or a motorcycle as thats a no no.

When you say it cuts out and stops, do you mean it stalls out or keeps running and just will not go?

It completely shuts off. It gets a little choppy. The throttle just acts like it isn't powering the fourwheelers. It goes then all power stops and revs down and then out of nowhere jumps and then goes and it happens about 10 times until I stop.

Sounds like something electrical does not like getting wet any longer. Buy a can of ignition water proofing spray and spray every wire and coil you can see .

Here is one of many types. Sprayon - Product Information - CLEAR ELECTRICAL LACQUER SEALER

A belt getting wet does not effect the motor's behavior.

I think I miss understood how it acted. I have no idea.
