Kodiak buzzes and won't start
My ol reliable Kodiak finally has a problem. Over the past few months it would occasionally buzz rather than start. The noise is coming from the starter relay area.
At first it would buzz once or twice...but then start up. Or I could pull start it. Now however, it won't start at all. The fuses on the relay are good. I get the dreaded buzzing and it fails to start...nor can I pull start it. I hooked it up to a battery charger and it indicates a full charge, but it still only buzzes. I crossed the poles on the relay and it sounded like it wanted to turn over...but never made it. I got no buzzing when I crossed the poles...just a very weak indication that it was trying to turn over. Do y'all have any thoughts on what my next step should be? Does this sound like a battery issue? Or a starter relay? Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. thanks |
check ALL connections

Dud battery, bad earths, bad connections on starter, solenoid or battery. Other less likely possibilities bad starter or seized engine.

Thanks y'all. I'll go start tracing wires and checking connections. It would be sweet if this was something as easy as a loose wire.

Ever find the issue?
Did you ever find the issue? I have a 1999 kodiak. In having the same loud buzzing noise when pushing the start button.
