lookin to buy a raptor 660 need some help though
 

im a little young but all my other friends my age have some decent wheelers and mines the slowest. We go on long rides on back roads so speed does matter alot to me. I'm wanting to buy a raptor 660 but its a big jump from what i have now but i have some experiance on my friends warrior 350. Just looking for some help and advice as to whether i should get a 660 :D

Just stay away from the 2001 (first year) they had tranny issues but it was corrected in 2002.
A 660 will go slow as you want so don't worry about the jump in power.

Well, how old are you? I am not a big fan of the 660. They are tall, heavy, suspension is a little suspect, and the twin carb setup is wonky. Having said that, all that stuff can be fixed or dealt with. I no longer consider the 01 tranny issues to be a problem. Any weak trannies have likely long since blown and been repaired. If it shifts fine and has been ridden even a moderate amount in the past 14 years, you should be ok.

If you are under 16, I just couldn't really recommend a 660 in good conscious without personally knowing you. For example, I would let my 16 y/o ride my built 250r before I put him on a 660...

Well im only 14 and im no profesional rider and thats for sure. Its an 04 that im lookin at btw but i would like to get it though. I have a polaris pheonix 200 and a 660 would be a huge jump up but i rode my friends warrior and i had no problem on it

14 is tough. A lot of 14 y/o can handle it, but not all. I would rather see my kids on something that handles a little better, maybe not so much hp, like a 400 class. The 400s are a big step up from the warrior and your 200, the 660 is going to be like stepping up to a semi tame stallion from a Shetland pony.

At 14, your parents need to have a lot of say in this type of thing. Respect their decisions and take them with grace. It isn't always easy, and as a parent I Willa dmit it isn't always fair either. At the end of the day, they know the whole situation a lot better than you may think though.

Back when I was 14 all anyone had was 3 wheelers lol. But that was 1988. Those things were fun but its probably a good thing they have 4 wheels now, a bit safer.

I think a 400ex would be a better first quad. Still more than enough power to keep up with your buddies and costs less. I think your parents would appreciate that part most of all. Even if you're paying for it yourself, less is always better when dealing with a limited budget. The 400ex is probably the most reliable sport quad ever built. It has a much more forgiving clutch as well, which is good for a beginning rider. If you don't have a lot of experience with a manual clutch, its easy to stall them.
