350 Wolverine shifting

I have a 2000 Wolverine 350.

I just got finished cleaning the carb and doing some other minor stuff on it. Took it up the street to verify carb function and when I upshift, the shifter needs to be pulled upward to shift, then tapped back downward slightly so it "falls" into the next gear. If not tapped into gear, machine fails to go into gear. Downshifting is as normal, no problems there. It just suddenly started doing this today.

Any thoughts on what this might be? Do I need to adjust the shifter or something?

Not familiar with the cover the shift shaft goes through but may be a seal or plain case bearing causing it to stick or could be a shift stopper spring may have broken or shift shaft spring problem. Had a couple spring problems like this on our Polaris Expeditions and few old Hondas that came through the shop that the lever wouldn't return.
