Quad hasn't been used in over a year.
My Yamaha Grizzly hasn't been used in over a year since i took it to Mexico. I haven't even washed it, but im gonna get a pressure washer soon to do so. I'm taking it back this year but i don't want to worry over if it will stop on me or not. What do i have to do so i can make sure it will keep working?

Fuel is a big one. Was the fuel shut off before storing it? If not, the carb will almost certainly be gummed up. Other than fuel and the battery, you should be good. Check the air filter to make sure critters didn't make a home in it or that it deteriorated, and you should be good.

I parked my Yamaha 350 Grizzly last Nov for the winter and just pulled it out this march , I did not pull the battery ,I just put gas treatment in the tank. It fired up like I parked it over night , even the battery did not need a boost!
Its only three and a half months but those months were Northern Ontario Canada Cold months. That's stored outside buried in snow with just a Tarp over it. I was amazed. Same with my Polaris SP500 put it did need a hit of starter spray in the air box and a pull on the rope to start it. After a 10min ride the battery was strong enough for the E-Start to work again. |

:yup: Have to agree.. If you had to pull carbs for a living, day in day out,you sure don't want to have go back into one you just worked on.. Too many other things to do with your time. Fine if you have idle time on your hands and don't mind doing like some posts I've read that said "this is the fourth time I've had the carb apart and it's still leaking".. Just makes my skin creep when I read things like this.. :) Every Polaris carb that had been sitting up at least got a new needle and seat since I had easy access to them and other brands in for service had carb kits ordered for them.In a mechanics mindset it makes no sense in having to go into a carb more than once,then move on to something else.. Rant over.. :)
