2005 Grizzly 660 Won't Go Into 4x4...
Hey all
I have a 2005 Grizzly 660 that isn't going into 4x4 ... A buddy and I put a voltmeter on the connections at the diff and it seems to be getting power when the switch is engaged, and we hear the relay click, just don't hear it shift into 4x4.
I've done a little research and I think it might be the little motor inside the shift solenoid ? Does anyone have a part number or a good place to pick up a good motor? Or a write-up on replacing the motor ?
Thanks !
Scott

There was someone who sold motors for many Yamaha 4WD systems, and he used to post on here with details about how to fit it. However he got Trolled by someone objecting to his selling price (circa $50), and seems to have given up posting. He did set up a website for selling the motors, and his old posts have a link to it. I tried him about a Suzuki, which looked to have the same motor, but didn't get a reply.

I'm not 100% sure this is what you need but I found this on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Niche-Industr...+660+4x4+parts.
Its basically a replacement for the factory thumb throttle and 4x4 handlebar mounted switch. At $56.99 and free shipping, its a lot less expensive than the Oem Yamaha part.

Well, I dove into the project this afternoon... I started at the switch and moved my way to the shift motor. Took the switch off and cleaned it out, relay was clicking when the button was pushed, checked and re-checked all the connections, removed the shift motor housing, cleaned all contacts and re-applied dielectric grease, tested the little motor and it worked. Put everything back together... Nothing.
Just for grins, I switched the shift relay with an identical one...and it WORKED.
Bad relay all along despite the fact it was clicking. $16 and I've got 4x4 again.
Thanks for all your help :-)
