What's the carburetor look like? Was it stored with gas in it?

Will it fire with starting fluid? If not it could be a coil.

First find out if you are getting a spark by removing the plug re-connect the HT lead and lay the plug on the head. Press the starter and see if the plug is sparking. If it is, check compression if you can. If this is OK (over 90psi) go for the starting fluid, though I have known this not to work. If it isn't sparking, either get a workshop manual and go through the ignition circuit checks, or get a motorcycle/quad auto electrician to check it over. Don't just fit new parts, you could spend a lot of money, still not have a "runner" and then find it was a broken wire.

First, I think its cool for a girl to do motocross. Its good to show that its not just a guys sport. Second, by checking the connection, what connections did you check. I had a fairly similar problem on my quad and I found out that one of the valves on the top of the carburetor was having an air leak. All I had to do was take it off, and screw it back on better and tighter. If you want any more info, questions, or anything else, you can private message me.
