I was riding my Raptor up a steep bumpy and rocky hill when it flipped over and landed on top of me. My cousin saw the accident and he said that the quad hit me 3 times as we slid and tumbled down the hill. The quad is close to a total loss: bent frame, left a-arm broke in 2, bent rear axle, to many to list. The wife is more pissed that I crashed the quad then me getting banged up, sprained ankle. I am so glad that I did my homework and got collision insurance, if you don't have insurance and your ride hard, your crazy for not having it. This is my first time going through an insurance company to get a toy fixed. I told the dealer if the insurance doesn't total it then I want after market replacements, and if it is totaled then I want a white raptor, white hides the scratches better. Yes I plan on buying the quad back from the insurance company for parts if they do total it.

I agree, having insurance is the only way to go. I did $800 dollars damage to the Recon tumbling it down the hill that didn't have to come out of my pocket, which saved my wife from killing me:) Another nice thing that if you finance your toy and you get the disibility insurance it makes those payments while your off work healing your wounds.

I'd like to know a little more about what they will replace,etc.. Is it covered if you blow the engine? What about if somebody steals your quad? But if you crash and its legit they will fix your machine? How does the "total loss" thing work? sorry for the questions but I'd like to get some for my wheeler, it cant be much $$

In answer to your questions. NO, Yes, and Yes. The way a machine is totaled, is when the cost of parts and labor combined equal the cost of the machines replacement value or the low book value. Whichever is the lesser. Some insurance companies will total a machine if the repairs come to within $1000 of the minimum value. Depends on the company.

How much does an insurance plan typically cost? Is it only through certain insurance companies? What are the catches?

Progressive quoted me $130? cant remember the exact amount, for 12 month coverage

I shopped around to find the cheapest price with the same coverage that I have on my vehicles the best price that i found was All State $233.00 a year, AAA doesn't insure bikes in California, Progrssive quoated me over $1000.00, no-one else returned my calls. Shop around to get your best deal.

I just got off of the phone with the dealer and he told me that they hope to finish the repair estimate today. I asked them to fax it to me. My quad is less then 6 months old, it shouldn't have depreciated to much.

Does anyone know when the new model year raptors will be avalible, if its only a few months away I think I will wait until then to replace mine, if mine is totaled by the insurance company.

I'm looking at nuying a 01 raptor, called State Farm Today and got a quote for $245.00 a year full coverage. (theft, collision, liability, medical payments)

My 98 Shee is only 145.00, seems state farm goes by CC size and new price, so the 660cc is way up there compared to the 350cc banshee.

I wouldn't ride a quad without insurance. Your home insurance, car, renters, nothing offers any coverage at all, no matter what if you do something on your quad or if it's stolen, period. Plus I can roll the raptor and total it, they'll fix it or replace it at no cost, now is that worth $245.00 a year, or 67 cents a day, hell ya!

I have never made a claim with state farm, but I'm sure they will pay if I need it. It's just cheap insurance when you think about it.

I'm currently going through State Farm myself, but I pay around $350.00 a year. That is with $200.00 deductable, 100/300/100 and the machine is insured for $8000.00 to cover the cost of both the machine and the accessories.
