Grizzly 600 purchase or not
I rebuild Yamaha wheelers as a hobby and I have the opportunity to buy a 2000 grizzly 600 for $800. He said it has a bad rod. It only has 3000 miles on it. There is not a replacement for it so I need to get it rebuilt. So my question is is this common on these machines? Or do I need to walk away from this one because its been beat to hell and not taken care of?
Thanks

Seems a little high of a price if you ask me. I just bought an 03 raptor 660 for 300. I have another 250 into it and that’s new battery, carb clean, wheel bearings and axle carrier and it now runs and drives mint and it’s clean. That’s a once in awhile kind of deal tho. I’d try and talk him lower.

Late to the part on this post, but first off, I was active here when that bike was popular and I never heard any mention of this being any common problem.
2nd and most important - figure what that same quad might sell for running and go from there. Figure in around what it would cost to get it up and going. At $800 with a bad rod, might not be worth sinking anything into it, because after you have it up and going, there's a good chance you have more in it than its worth.
