Okay. So i went by and picked up a new compression tester. (Mainly for the fittings cause it didnt have the right one) and i did the test. Mind you its a harbor freight tool.

Well first time i did the test with the new compression tester it read 90psi throttle closed and 100psi throttle open. I thought crap it needs a rebuild. Well i decided to try the end with the rubber boot that allow you to just press the tester to the hole and test(no rubber hose). And well i got 125psi throttle closed and 160psi throttle open. Well now im confused. So i go and get my much higher quality tester and its hose and put the right adapter on it. It also read 125psi throttle closed and 160psi throttle open. So im guessing the hose with the new tester is too weak? I mean it is a cheap chinese tool. Because i could feel it pulse the hose as it turned over and its hose was long compared to my much better quality tester. Its hose also felt flimsy compared to the higher quality tester.

So i conclude its 125psi throttle closed and 160psi throttle open. Isnt that suspiciously good for a 1992 quad? I mean when i had the timing cover off the chain has no slack and everything looked new even. So maybe its had a recent rebuild? Maybe someone put in a high comp piston? Higher quality tester throttle closed
Higher quality tester throttle open

Ok...well, I see a machine with good compression numbers that runs well (from what I could hear at least) in neutral, but put it in gear and when you stab the throttle it stalls...if you work the throttle then it'll move...is that all correct?

If yes, then I'm on to your auto-clutch...it sounds strong in neutral, but once you engage the transmission you have problems...I'd take a look at that and ensure the clutches aren't smoked...

yeah thats all right. But it took alot of carb tweaking to get it to run like that. It pulls strong. And it doesnt always stall when you stab. Alot of times Itll pull up the front wheels and rocket off.

Does it stall when you stab at the throttle in neutral?

It does a bit when its cold. But after it warms up it rarely does it.

And when in gear with a load (rider) - how often?

FYI - it's best to keep baselines on a fully warmed motor, so I generally discount cold symptoms
