Raptor 700 backfire
Hello I have a 2008 raptor 700r... Stock. the baffel came loose and then just shot out the back, I've heard of guys taking them out so i thought no big deal. But since that happened, it's been not wanting to idle and backfiring especially on start up. Does it need that back pressure? Or do I need to mess worth the air fuel ratio since the exhaust is now modified. Is it maybe a fowled plug or valves out of adjustment? Thanks for the help

Could be any of your suggestions. So, fit a new plug, adjust the valves. If that doesn't work you could try cleaning and adjusting the carb. One reason for a bike blowing it's baffles out is incorrect air/fuel ratio anyway so you could have been running lean before it blew them out, due to dirt in a jet.

This bike is EFI, so could it be electronics that are off?

Isn't The Raptor 700 fuel injected? Check the valves. Also a new plug can't hurt.
Is the backfire coming from the intake or the exhaust? |
Exhaust

"This bike is EFI,"
My apologies, on most Quad EFI systems you can't "mess worth the air fuel ratio" so I assumed carburettor. More likely to be dirt in the injector or a blocked fuel filter than the electronics giving trouble. Though a sensor telling the ECU lies can cause all sorts of problems, and it is extremely difficult to diagnose unless it throws a fault code up, which can be read by diagnostic equipment. |
