2005 Kodiak 450 speed limited

Just picked up this unit for my son. Runs well but the speed is limited. I’ve adjusted the set screw back to factory spec but the issue remains. High Rpm and max 20 mph. Almost like it is stuck in low gear. I can’t find the part I’ve seen mentioned in other posts on the front diff to order. Is there a quick bypass for this? Does it think it’s diff locked in 4wheel? Will Disconnecting the battery work? If you happen to know what the name of that part is I would appreciate it.
Thanks for the help!

Check the belt. If its worn out it will feel like the machine has no power and will greatly limit top speed because the belt is slipping. I'm guessing its probably the original and is most likely in need of replacement.

Thanks!
That was my next course of action. Also going to make sure the clutches are opening/closing properly.

So I changed the belt and got an extra 8-10 mph. Still maxing at about 30 mph. The clutches are operating well. The hardened grease in the primary clutch makes me think a rebuild is in order this winter. Any other suggestions as to what should try so the quad doesn’t have to work so hard to get 30mph?
looking forward to some responses.
Thanks
Dan
