1993 Yamaha Big Bear 4x4 front brake issue
#1
Hello all,
Bought the machine off a friend who had it since new. He said a few years in the front brakes stopped working and they attempted to fix it a few times with no real success. I'm trying to get them to work again before getting out there again and struggling to get the system to bleed properly. Are there common issues with this model or something in missing. When I squeeze the handle it doesn't seem to have any pressure and just freely goes in and out with very little happening at the bleeder valves.

You are not supposed to do this for safety reasons, so I am not advocating it (but it works). Put a clamp on the soft pipe below the master cylinder, bleed by:- down, clamp on, up, release clamp, and repeat. Then go to normal bleeding by the nipples on the backplates once fluid gets down there. Works every time.

Genuine parts can be bought from Yamaha dealers, they are all over the world. Also US firms like Babbitts and Partzilla ship to other countries. I have bought stuff from them that was cheaper than UK dealers, even after the import duty and postage.

Finally found some recent users. I apologize that this isn't related, but since we're talking Yamaha...
2001 Big Bear 400 4x4 (low geared). Will "Free Country" 8 PR be to heavy or big with standard rims of "25x8x12, 25x10x12"? Wondering if these tires would be ok? Keep in mind got some heavy riders!
