2005 raptor won't start with oem cdi, but will with chinese??
2005 raptor 660 was brought to me for some repairs. Will start and run but has a low rev limit in every gear and neutral. Disabled every safety switch on it and same thing. Found it had a chinese no brand CDI. Got a known good used OEM CDI and put that in. Noticed the temp light is on dimly and gets brighter when I hit the starter button. Will not turn over with the OEM cdi, but runs with a chinese one?? Where do I go?

If the Chinese CDI is a straight copy of a Yamaha one, there should be no difference and your "good used" CDI may not be as good as you think. However, I don't know the Raptor at all, but have found people sometimes alter the loom in order to fit generic Chinese CDIs. In which case, the loom would need to be altered back, to make a standard CDI work.

The used one came off another running raptor from a guy here in town. I did notice some wires have been cut and played with, but all are connected. I don't know raptors very well either.

I had a Honda 450 in a couple of years ago that was running badly and suspected the CDI as all wires to/from it tested out. On close inspection it was a generic Chinese DC CDI for kid's quads and the wires to it had been cut and changed so they matched the pin-out of this CDI. I had to alter the wires back, in order to fit the correct Honda 450 model DC CDI.
