I might be going to the Silver Lake sand dunes in a couple of week and I'm thinking about getting some paddle tires. I'm thinking about GBC Sand Sharks (v shaped paddle) or GBC Sand Devils (straight paddle). Does anyone have any comments about these two tires or about the straight paddles versus the v-shaped paddles? Also, I was thinking about using my Bandit front tires. Should that work OK or should I get sand tires for the front too. Anybody know how well do rear holeshots hook up in the dunes?

I forgot to mention my quad in my original post. It's a 98 Banshee with fatty pipes kit, cool head (20cc), and high compression piston.

My friend has a '98 Banshee w/ Toomey's.....boost bottle and air box mods and he's had both. He had the V's at first and didn't really like them.....he then got some kind of straight paddle and loved them. oh....by the way.......he always goes to silver lake and that's where he tested both.

Well personally for the dunes I like the stock tires with all the air let out of 'em.

Just remove your tires from the wheels that otta do the trick. Anyway V paddles are better for cornering but if you plan on doing alot of drag racing than get the Straight paddles

Default wat kind of banshee paddle tires for silver lake dunes?

I have a 1993 banshee and i just bought GBC Sand Devils. I also ride at Silver Lake, and I know that these paddle tires work great. I like the straight paddles better because of the dragging power. Your Bandits in the front will be fine too. I have my stocks in the front and have no trouble turning. I used to have holeshots on a 97 blaster that i sold. Those work fairly well in the dunes, but they can't compare to paddles. Also, check out www.rockymountainatv.com for your paddles. They are $40 cheaper than anywhere even with shipping included (I like in Michigan and paid $162 for 20x11x10 on .160 vs. $220 anywhere else). Ride it like you stole it!

i ride at silver lake, and i run xtreme haulers on my stock rappy. i have 20's w/ 10 paddles on 10" wheels. they are awesome, even guys with taller haulers were in awe. they are really nice tires. you can keep the regular tires on the front, they will be fine.

v paddles dont offer anywhere near the hookup in a straight line that the regular straight paddles do. v paddles are only for sand trail riding, so you can turn sharply and not slide. go with the straights, in my opinion. i have radials stock and they hooked up pretty well when i dropped the psi to about 3 or 4. if you are just going there once to play, just run your stock tires, but if you ride a lot in the sand, then go with a set of straight paddles.
