I have a 2001 Warrior. I bought a K&N jet kit. In the instructions it says to get rid of the little plastic piece around the main jet when you install the jet kit. What does this plastic ring with 4 holes in it do? Does it serve a purpose and if so what is the purpose?

I would not recommend taking that piece out. It is in place to prevent the fuel in the carb bowel from "sloshing" around and turning into foamy air bubbles.

Since all I have to do to change the plastic piece is drop the float bowl, I might try it with it in and then run it with it out. This is after I install the jet kit.

I took mine out if the Banshee last year with no ill effects. If your instuctions say to do it, do it.

I just found out tonight that the K&N jet kit jets are smaller in outside diameter than the Yamaha jets and the plastic piece would not stay in place anyway. Don't need it anyway.
