After I get a Wolverine & get it paid for I'm thinking of getting a Raptor. I've never rode a sport quad before, I've actually never even sat on one. But I think its something that I would enjoy driving. My question is, I'm 6'6" & about 190 Ibs. I'm I to big for a sport quad. I havent got a chance to go down to the dealer yet they are located out of town & I'm not even sure they will have a raptor in stock. THANKS

no, your not too tall for the raptor. you might feel cramped but its not my problem.

If you can fit on the Wolverine, you can fit on the Raptor. Raptors feel right when you sit on one. The seat contours are correct. Chet

I'm 6',6", and the Raptor fits me fine. I tried the 400ex, and it was a little smaller overall...
Good luck, Lorrin |
Yeah, it would be okay, but not great. Bombardier is doing an outrageous deal on DS-650's for $5095!! That is really cheap, and the DS is THE quad for BIG guys. Screw the Wolverine, get a DS now.
I ride mountain trails and sandwashes, My son is 90 lbs on his Raptor, he is the only one that can keep up with me on my DS. Bomb must be coming out with a new version, maybe lighter, maybe with the steering geometry improved, and new shocks. But I've already done that to mine (except make it lighter) and it is awesome. I much prefer the DS to the Raptor, but I like the Raptor too. My son does not like the DS, he says it is too big and he can't "throw it around" like he can his Raptor. I'm only 6', which is not that tall, but I'm pretty middle aged, 46, 210 lbs. (I thought that was a nicer way of saying I'm overweight). If you are going to RACE MX then you are probably better off with a Raptor or Cannondale. Or a real race quad. But if you just want to haul ass, the DS is fantastic. It is not too good at wheelies, and does not jump as well as the Raptor, but it is rock solid, more dependable than the Raptor, and just plain bigger! My friends 6ft 7inch brother drives around a suzuki quadrunner 160. it looks like he is driving one of those clown cars in the circus. you should be just fine for the raptor.

Yea, especially if you want to look like a monkey f*%king a football. Apparently that works for some people. Try the DS and Raptor, or at least sit on both before you make any decisions that you may regreet later.

DS is a great quad for big guys. If you don't spend most of your time on tight trails I would recomend you check out the Bomber just as fast as a Raptor and the suspention doesn't tax out at all with a big rider.

I'll be trying to ride through as much mud as I can find (depending on the quads ability of course).
Do you think that the DS has the same advantage as the Raptor in the mud? If not better? THANKS 4 all Responses |
Raise the handlebars 1", and install a Ceet desert foam & seatcover, and you're good to go. I'm 6'6" too, and it works perfect for me. Never a regret with this machine! Rode a Bomber and didn't like it at all.

Good advice Scott, Thanks

IMHO, the Raptor is not a mud quad. I'm not sure what advantages you are talking about, but the rear axle only has 4.5" of ground clearance. As soon as you hit anything deeper than a mud puddle, you could get stuck.
I use a technique of getting up my speed and using my aluminum skid plates a sleds to get thru small areas of deep mud or ruts. It can be hard on the skid plates if you find a rock. As much as I love my Raptor, if the mud is deep and there is lots of it - I leave it a home and ride my 4x4. |
