Anybody have suggestions on how I can polish the plastic on my 87 350ER? I want to get rid of that dull look and bring back some of the original luster of the new plastic. Any help would be appreciated.

it may be too late for the protectant but I know that Sun of a GUN protectnt worked well as far as making my honda shine!

I've also used STP Son of a Gun protectant on my 97 Timberwolf from time to time and it does make quite a difference. I spray the plastic and leave it sit for a few minutes and then wipe the excess off. As Matt said though it might be too late for your pastic depending on how dull it really is, but hey for a few bucks it's worth a try.

Try using a SCOTCH-BRITE pad to sand out any scratches, then make sure the plastic is clean. With a soft towel(a cloth baby diaper), I used MOP&GLOW . Put it on evenly & light coats . I lightly sanded in between the first two coats with very fine steel wool, cleaning in between coats.Let each coat dry overnight , usually 4 coats will do it. I did it on a 250R I restored,it worked great.GOOD LUCK

Just a note about the new blue Yamaha plastic. If you tweak the plastic and you get white marks where it has been bent. You can use a heat gun to get the white marks out of the plastic. The heat gun will remove the white marks but it may also dull the shine of the plastic somewhat.

There is a specific product called 'Plastic Re-New' available at finer motorsports stores. It buffs out scratches and renews the luster of plastic. Check it out - I have seen the results and they are very impressive.
