Just ripped a sidewall on the front. I live in colorado and ride 99% mountain trails. I am considering either holeshots or razrs, but am open to suggestions. would really prefer a 6ply, or higher if there is any.

The Pure Sports Bandits XC (kevlar belted) are the toughest fronts I've found ! Also, the "breaking bars" really improve handling. I've been running them on my Warrior and Raptor and ride mostly in rocky desert stuff.

Try em', Eric

I just put the Holeshot XCs (4-ply) on the front of my Raptor along with new Douglas rims. The tires have held up for 4 rides where my stock Raptor tires got eaten alive with sidewall holes. I too was considering the 6-ply Razr tire but was concerned about the added weight.

I am running with ~ 3.8 lbs air pressure. I was used to running as high as 6 lbs with the 2 ply tires but these tires are stiff enough already.

Haven't decided if I am a fan of the added 2" of width the Douglas rims gave me. It is very noticeable when flying through tight trails. Ironically, I recently hit a tree with the 400ex while waiting for my new Raptor sprockets and chain to arrive. My wrist is still tendor after 2 weeks of recovery so I am a bit weary of hitting another tree with a tire so the added 2" is scary.

I have been running holeshot XC's for the last 6months or so, sounds like I ride similar terrain as my colo counterpart renn, and they have been holding up well. I ripped up my stockers long ago and have replaced stock rims with douglas .190 which are pretty beat up (them rocks eat em up). I am on my 3rd skidplate. To NoTuRaptor I had a set of douglas 2" offset but I went to a 1" offset, I did not like the handling and the way the brake parts were exposed, the +2" were difficult on tight trails, but the +1" are great though. I am about ready for new tires (again) and was thinking about maxis razr's also rumored to be tough on the trail

Just to clarify, I have 1" offset versus stock on each wheel for a total of 2" - it is still an adjustment.

You know you make a good point about the handling being different. There is a difference in the wheel turning geometry between changing the wheel offset or adding spacers versus increasing the length of the a-arms. Better overall handling is obtained by keeping an equal distance of the rim located inside of the wheel hubs/lugnuts as on the outside. It is better to add width by increasing the length of the a-arms. This keeps the turning geometry in check.

I really like the Holeshots as well. They are a great tire with plenty of traction and handling.

How's that wrist coming along? I know how you feel, I've had the pins in mine for 3 weeks now and I have another 3 to go. I'm ordering the stabilizer and 22" front tires to try and prevent this from happening again. I hit a rock not a tree but had the same outcome. Good luck on the wrist!!!!
